Piiti Blomqvist (b. 1998)

I am a Helsinki-based artist mainly working with ceramics and different painting media. I have graduated from Pekka Halonen Academy of Arts, since then my work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions in Galleria Uusi Kipinä, Kosminen, Bar9, Round Helsinki and more. My work can also be seen in restaurants such as Madonna, Holiday and Yes Yes Yes.

The themes in my work are often similar, I am endlessly intrigued by the concepts of good and evil and the juxtaposition of them. This is pictured in my work by blending the purity of animals and human vices. Another regular theme in my work is girlhood and all different aspects of it; the trauma, the beauty and the fun of it. For me, beauty is a core value and an essential element in my work, my goal is to create visually interesting and aesthetically pleasing art that can be interpreted just as lightly or as deeply as the viewer prefers. By romanticizing and using irony as a tool complex and difficult emotions are easier to deal with, for the viewer too, I hope.
